Having had many years in the hospitality industry from ownership , training at all levels to management, I have never given a 5 star review until now. This property, what it offers, the eye to detail, and everything in between Fantastic. This property is what I think all AirBnB operators should strive for. The perfect balance.

This was such an amazing stay in West Seattle. I am thankful for people like Susan and Bob who know how to HOST and make the experience special. If I had an AirBNB home to rent out, I swear I would take every idea from these 2. The way they had their home catered to the guest, was what truly made our stay above the top. My favs were the backyard, the hot tub, beautiful greenery in the backyard, the fresh bread and apple butter left for us, along with a bottle of wine. The home was awesome, beds were over amazing to sleep on, and so much in the home that you really don't need to worry about if you forgot something! It was so cozy and comfortable. Neighborhood was quiet, and I hope to return soon!
Kristi -- September 2024
5 Stars isn’t justice for this place, Susan & Bob deserve 10 stars. A beautiful home in a quiet neighborhood great communication and help if needed. The place was charming just as the photos described and I couldn’t be happier. I can’t wait to stay here again on my next trip to Seattle.
Jessica -- August 2024
I am not generally a review writer, but our stay was so exceptional that I can’t help but put down some words about it. Our hosts were over and above expectations- 100% available and responsive without being invasive. We received a bounty of good will and goodies - stocked fridge and kitchen, freshly baked goods, specially delivered children’s toys and books. Bathroom shelves are lined with any items you might have forgotten. The hot tub was a favorite with kids - and adults after a long day.
Thank you Susan and Bob for creating such a travelers oasis!
Lydia -- July 2024
I can’t say enough good things about our stay at the Old Apple Tree Guest House! We loved all the beautiful flowers in the back yard and the deck out back! The hot tub was an awesome distraction in the evenings. We had a great get away with our friends and celebrated a birthday as well as sightseeing downtown. Took the bus to Lumen Field to see an epic concert. The bus is super close and convenient. We could walk to restaurants for dinner in the evening. We really enjoyed our stay!
Nancy -- June 2024
My husband and I, along with our 6 and 9 year old grandchildren loved staying at the Old Apple Trees Guest House. After a long flight from Pennsylvania we thought one of us would need to run out and get basic supplies, but everything we needed, and more, was there waiting for us. What a wonderful surprise. The rest of the house was just as thoughtfully laid out and prepared for our stay.
Once we had arrived, we never needed to contact the hosts, but I am sure that if we had needed anything they would have responded promptly.
We will definitely try to stay here again when we return to Seattle.
Thank you so much for your amazing hospitality!
Caren -- January 2024
This was our second time staying at Susan and Bob’s place. They continue to go that extra mile to embrace their guests with a comfortable home that we rarely see elsewhere. Susan and Bob leave homemade bread on the counter for us and a meal. This time, delicious pot roast warming in the oven and fabulous Waldorf salad. Such a welcome treat after long distance, exhausting travel. And they reach out with helpful suggestions, including recommending turning on a space heater in the bedroom and shutting the door on a colder-than-usual evening. Bob sent us a text offering to bring over an ice scraper for our rental car in case we needed to clear our windshield the following morning. Susan and Bob are thoughtful hosts who truly care about their guests.
Lee -- December 2023
It's clear that Susan and Bob have put a lot of thought and effort into the Old Apple Trees home. They have anticipated every travel stay need, and then some. The lovely house was immaculately clean, labels and instructions clear where needed, and the handbook provided detailed useful information. The kitchen and pantry were also stocked for our use - snacks, food, drinks - terrific!
Since we were arriving in the evening, Susan graciously offered to have a light meal waiting for us. It was delicious. One of the more unpleasant things about travel is trying to find food in a new location after arriving in the evening. Susan saved us from that task. It was so thoughtful, but I think typical of the care and attention Susan and Bob take with the Old Apple Trees and their guests.
Overall, you couldn't ask for a nicer place to stay, or more thoughtful hosts.
Thanks Susan and Bob!!
Eric -- November 2023
I’m convinced that Susan serves as inspiration for the word ‘hospitality.’ The space was a warm and cozy home away from home. It’s clear that she’s thought through everything when it comes to ensuring guests feel comfortable and at home in her space; from towels to the hot tub to puzzles and blankets by the fireplace (and everything in between). Everything was incredibly clean and easy to locate within the home, which made the stay just that much more comfortable. I can’t wait to stay here again!
Melina -- August 2023
Susan and Bob are incredible hosts: fresh-baked bread and a quiche with a bottle of wine from their own vineyard and well-stocked cabinets and a fridge with beer, milk, eggs, bacon, and lots of extras. The rest of the furnishings showed the same generosity and attention to detail, including the beautiful back patio with a hot tub. They made traveling with a baby easy with a pack and play and high chair. They are fantastic hosts!
Laura -- July 2023
I cannot say enough about our stay at Old Apple Trees Guesthouse. It is a special place and the hosts could write a book on how to host an AirBnB. From the prepared lunch and fresh bread and apple butter that awaited us upon our arrival to the Sunday newspaper left on our deck, everything was thought of. The home itself is tastefully decorated and very comfortable. The back deck was the icing on the cake; we had privacy and comfort in a beautiful setting. I recommend staying at Old Apple Trees Guesthouse 100%.(and the homemade apricot ice cream 110%!)

Look no further, this is exactly where you want to stay! When you first drive down the quiet street you see this darling home with beautiful landscaping. You enter the home (super easy check in) and you feel so comfortable. It’s colorful but not overdone. There are many comfortable seating areas. The kitchen is stocked with everything you need to cook. On the counter was a bottle of wine, fresh baked bread and homemade apple butter. Plus milk, oats, bacon and eggs she had in the refrigerator waiting for us and a vast array of coffees and teas. The bedrooms are very beautiful with robes in each of the closets. The bathrooms were stocked with anything you might have forgotten. I wish we had time to spend in the hot tub outside because the backyard is beautiful and the weather in June was perfect. I asked permission to bring some family over for dinner. Susan added leaves to the table and extra chairs. She even made us a wonderful dessert. She is a host that goes well above and beyond.
Bridget -- July 2022
Bob and Susan have created a perfect home away from home. Upon arrival, there was a freshly baked quiche, homemade bread and apple butter and the fridge had bacon, eggs, milk and OJ. The house was very clean and cozy and the backyard is a peaceful oasis. The hot tub was a treat! Susan and Bob are excellent communicators! It was a wonderful experience.
Beth -- May 2022
The house was lovely, clean and well kept. The hosts provided clear information that we needed as well as suggestions that we requested. Our family group of 6 adults enjoyed the hot tub and deck. The hosts provided extras that really made our stay comfortable. We definitely recommend this guest house—we loved it!!
Taylor Rose -- January 2022
This was hands down the best airbnb experience with the hosts in particular that I've had in the past decade + with rental homes. From reserving their beautiful home, centrally located and walking distance to many areas of interest, to check out every detail was carefully considered and thought out. We arrived to home made lunch and felt so welcome the entire week. The hot tub was an incredible perk! And the backyard is gorgeous. The home was spacious for our family of 6, the towel racks in each bedroom and the multiple areas to hang out in made relaxing inside during cold inclement weather peaceful. Bob even arranged for the kids to borrow sleds to use! Susan is a fantastic chef and I can't express enough the generosity of the hosts, the charm of the house, and would 1 million times over recommend this house to share in your West Seattle experience too!
Debbie -- December 2021
EXCEPTIONAL is the closest word I can think of. The pristine condition of the home, minutes from the airport, the jacuzzi...not even sure where to start! We arrived to a home baked quiche, apple cake (I did not get any cake as my kids devoured it!), a basket of snacks, juices and lovely wine (that I definitely appreciated!). With Susan and Bob right next door, any questions I had were promptly answered, they even delivered a 15 qt stock pot for our Christmas Eve stew! The house is IMPECCABLE. Comfortable, cozy, homey, and they anticipated every need: Phone chargers, HDMI cords, ROBES (I mean seriously...ROBES that felt like heaven). We will most definitely be back--not just for everything I listed--but because I honestly felt like family. Thank you for loving my (not so little) family through your gift of hosting.
Debbie -- August 2021
Bob and Susan were exceptional hosts, very warm and welcoming! They went above and beyond to provide everything we needed, and special treats besides. The indoor space is comfortable and well-appointed. The large private outdoor patio has plenty of space for relaxing and dining, the gardens are beautiful, and the hot tub was wonderful at the end of a busy day. This is a beautiful oasis amidst the hubbub of a big city that we could easily return to again and again.
Lynn -- July 2021
Where do we start? Susan and Bob were most welcoming and seemed to have thought of just about everything. The house was neat and clean, and the beds were comfortable. Sitting out on the deck under the apple tree was so relaxing. They responded quickly to any question we had, and you would never know they lived next door because they were respectful of our privacy. We have stayed in AirBnB homes before, but this was by far, the best. If you are looking for a place to stay in the Seattle area that is great for families, and on a quiet street, this is the place. Great location and easy access to everything. We would highly recommend Susan and Bob's home for your next vacation.
Shane -- June 2021
This is a wonderful, welcoming place. Very comfortable and relaxing house and a great backyard to kick back and take it all in! Also, Susan and Bob are a very kind and genuine couple, very pleasant. I can’t wait to go back! I’m recommending to anyone that is going to Seattle area about this place.
Warning: If you stay here, you will want to go back too.....
Tim – June 2021
We have stayed in Airbnb's all across Canada, Europe and the US and have not had an experience as nice as our stay in the Apple Tree House. We are a couple and having access to an entire house for 11 days is like being at home.
Right from the start Susan and Bob were the consummate hosts. Quick to respond to questions and anxious to learn about our flight schedule and any food allegories, Susan asked about leaving us a lunch based on our arrival time. When she heard we were vegetarians, she made delicious deviled eggs, pastry and homemade apple butter. The fridge had butter, eggs, milk and other staples to help get us settled. There is a French press for morning coffee. The house is very clean and has 3 nice bedrooms - all with queen beds, along with 2 full baths on the 2nd floor and a full laundry. Each room has ample sized clean closets with plenty of wooden hangers and fresh robes. In the bath rooms, there was soap, shampoo, conditioner, etc, with wonderful fluffy towels. There is also a powder room on the 1st floor. The kitchen has many fresh spices and pots, pans, dishes and food storage containers (everything you could need). In addition, there was oatmeal and other pantry staples for your use. The back yard is an oasis of birds, flowers and trees. We spent time enjoying the quiet and peaceful space in the morning and again in the evening. We used the grill for a cookout with our son, DIL and 18 month old grandson. When Bob and Susan saw we had our grandson, they brought over a booster seat for him.
Susan and Bob's prior work experiences certainly prepared them very well to be outstanding Airbnb hosts. Highly recommend this home and look forward to staying here again on our future visits to West Seattle.
Kate – April 2021
Wow! Bob and Susan are beyond super hosts. They made our stay memorable. We were greeted with an apple tart and a stocked fridge. Their home is quiet and cozy with lots of space. We were treated to an Easter egg hunt! Most of all, it is Bob and Susan who make your experience in Seattle a very special one.
Kent – March 2021
Stop what you are doing and book this place. My wife and I have stayed in dozens of Airbnb’s and this was by far our best experience ever. Susan and Bob take hospitality to a whole new level. For starters the house is stocked with everything you could possibly need: from spices and cooking implements, to a well-stocked medicine cabinet, to the bread, milk, eggs, bacon, and wine they had waiting, oh I almost forget the fresh squeezed orange juice. Also, they welcomed us with the most delicious omelet we have ever had. As for the house itself, it is super cute and cozy. The backyard is very nice and the location is perfect. You couldn’t ask for a better experience. We would give this home 6 stars if we could.
Souksamay – December 2020
Well-appointed house! Christmas dinner was ready for us when we arrived at 9pm! All we needed for a little getaway! Great hosts!Claire & Elliot - October-November 2020
What an ideal home away from home. Bob and Susan were superb hosts, friendly and engaging, and always ready to provide for our needs on 5 min. notice. The well-equipped kitchen was great for us as we cooked for our daughter, who had just given birth. We will be back again soon!

Danit - September 2020
Perfect location in West Seattle. Immaculate, charming home with too many to count thoughtful touches. Comfortable beds, quality linens and plenty of space. Fully equipped kitchen with everything you need. The outdoor space is beautiful. Truly a home away from home. Outstanding communication. Easy check in/out. We were very appreciative of the food staples and treats awaiting us and the delicious, fresh from the oven, fruit galette. We loved our stay at Susan and Bob’s and look forward to staying there again.
Jack - September 2020
If you’re looking for a place to stay, and Susan and Bob have availability, your search should end here. I have stayed in many many Airbnb’s and the level of hospitality and generosity that Susan and Bob display is unparalleled. Very easy to get to some great hiking, Alki beach is right around the corner, and nothing beats a relaxing evening in the hot tub. If you have the opportunity to book, get excited for your trip!
Travis and Kelly - July-August 2020
Susan and Bob - Thank you for being our Covid refuge while we embarked on our kitchen remodel. Your lovely home was the perfect landing spot for us during our 5+ week project. Sydney [2 yo] will miss picking up apples in the backyard and looking for Bob when she's outside. Your generosity & hospitality were greatly appreciated. I hope we stay in tough. You guys are the absolute best !! Thanks for the peach galette & martinis, too. You've been beyond generous with us.
Lisa - July 2020
This home is the perfect place for stay. Close to the airport. The hosts are amazing. They backed for us and had some breakfast foods waiting on the counter and fridge for our arrival. They had even offered to help transport my daughter to the property from base. The backyard was a garden oasis and the family enjoyed the evenings in the hot tub. Karen – December 2019
This was our second time staying with Susan and Bob and once again they went above and beyond to make our stay perfect! We arrived late at night, to an amazing meal that Susan had left for us. There was homemade soup, bread, an apple galette and a lovely bottle of wine. Not only was the food delicious, but Susan had made it all allergen free, to accommodate my daughter’s life threatening food allergies. No easy task, I can assure you! The house was also stocked with coffee, fruit, all the breakfast essentials one would need, as well as many other supplies one generally needs for cooking. The house is conveniently located, with quick access to coffee shops, grocery stores, restaurants, the wonderful Lincoln Park, the airport and downtown Seattle. We will definitely stay here again!
Nicole – November 2019
WOW! Can we adopt Susan and Bob into our family?! From my first interaction with Susan I knew she was a truly amazing woman - so incredibly accommodating, hospitable, genuine and amazing. Her character crossed over into their lovely home and hospitable accommodations. The feeling of Old Apple Trees is that of a hotel but in the comfort and amenities of a home! I have stayed in 18 airbnbs with my family over the years and none come close to this. Susan and Bob really put their heart and soul into this place and it shows. You have to experience them/the home to know what I mean. You will not regret it! What an absolute home away from home. A little backstory: I have 3 young children who were sick leading up to our Thanksgiving weekend stay. I called Susan to sadly let her know we may not make it. She graciously worked on my families behalf to ensure we would be reimbursed if we did need to cancel. Long story short we did end up fulfilling our reservation but were not able to bring the youngsters to the Thanksgiving dinner. Susan is so sweet and proceeded to cook a Thanksgiving meal and feed my quarantined kids and niece who was watching them! What a saint these hosts are. They took the edge off a difficult situation by going above and beyond what any host would offer to do in my experience. They feel like family! Thank you so much!!! The beds are amazing, the amenities are amazing and the home is stocked with anything you may need. Communicating with Susan and Bob is so easy and they are truly happy to make their guests' stay impeccable. The best hosts ever. I selfishly don't want to share what a gem this airbnb is, but I will! STAY HERE :)
Julia – July 2019
This is a lovely airbnb, Susan and Bob are very generous hospitable hosts who go the extra mile to make you feel welcome and do some lovely touches: yummy welcome breakfast , offers of wine and muffins and lovely flowers from the garden throughout the house. The house is spacious with very comfortable beds, great bathrooms and really pretty outdoor space to eat outside etc. The location is good, easy to travel from to explore Seattle and the surrounding areas and amenities such as grocery store are not too far either.
Noe - June 2019
Even though we spent most of our time out and about, coming back here was so comfortable and my family LOVED the experience. Susan and Bob truly thought of everything. My father’s partner is gluten free and they left plenty of gluten free food for us! They truly thought of every last detail. I’d give 10 stars if I could. :)
June - June 2019
This is by far the best Airbnb I've stayed in so far - and I've stayed at many, over many years! Susan & Bob's place is located in a residential neighborhood in West Seattle, and gives you a very cozy bed and breakfast vibe, without the host in the building. The lived-in kind of feel that you typically don't find in Airbnbs anymore (with all the IKEA furnishings and business-y feels, not that it's wrong, but it's definitely a different feel) is very much in the house, and we thoroughly loved it. We had a girl's weekend at Susan & Bob's place, and during this time, we especially loved: clean & cozy house, stocked and welcoming kitchen, a hot tub (!!), a beautiful backyard, and the quiet neighborhood. I would love to stay here again, and wish this was my house.
Christine - May 2019
Everything positive in the previous reviews is true, and more. House is actually as lovely as the photos show. Taking an Uber downtown was reasonable, then returning to the non-city ambiance was relaxing. West Seattle has everything you would need for your stay (if it hasn’t already been provided by the hosts!).
Cindy - May 2019
Susan and Bob are THE BEST EVER!!!! They live next door and we got to know them a little. We would definitely stay here again. The house was amazing, lots of thoughtful touches and some breakfast goodies for our early morning arrival. Clean, comfortable, beautiful home. Wonderful for entertaining.
Rachael – April 2019
There aren't enough characters in all of social media to describe the charm of Old Apple Trees Guest House. Not only is the house spacious and warmly designed, it holds secrets: Like how that bottle of McCrea wine showed up on the back porch, or that Dutch Baby breakfast just happened to present itself upon respectable waking hours. The beds are cozy, enough of them for a family retreat; the kitchen is begging for attention, what with all those gadgets; and the back porch wants you to relax. Better than a Nancy Drew mystery novel, this house has its hosts to thank for being so amazing, themselves the kindest, most adoring couple, and it shows in how they treat their guests. Come for the cozy, stay for the grits!
Craig - March 2019
This is where you want to stay in West Seattle - a trendy neighbourhood - and this was one of the nicest places I have ever stayed. The house is beautifully appointed, sparkling clean, contains everything you need for a very comfortable stay, and Susan and Bob exude charm via the setup or if you want to ask a question. The location is close to good restaurants within walking or short driving distance as well as close to a bus route to downtown as a fast alternative to wrestling with traffic and parking on your own. We would not hesitate to return as this made a fantastic base for our visit to Seattle.
Carey - February 2019
Susan’s house was lovely. She supplied everything people could want and more. Fresh food in the fridge, a delicious apple galette, fresh baked bread, all kinds of coffee, snacks, and delicious bottle of wine. The hot tub was clean and perfect for cold nights. The beds were comfy and the rooms cute and cozy. I definitely recommend this home. Tons to do around quaint West Seattle. We did some shopping and eating and really had a fabulous time. I’d love to come back in spring and enjoy the beautiful backyard in bloom.
Beverly - January 2019
Wow! Truly the best experience we have ever had at an AirBnB, and we have had many good experiences. Susan and Bob embody the true definition of Super Hosts. They love being hosts and make you feel like friends or family. Beautiful, fully stocked home, with more extra touches than I’ve ever seen. Stocked for a great breakfast, including homemade bread. We were visiting for my mother-in-law’s memorial, and our hosts were so kind, gracious and supportive! We felt completely spoiled... The location is great as well. We will be back on our next trip to Seattle, hopefully for a longer stay!
Connie – January 2019
I'm so pleased I've had another opportunity to stay at the Old Apple Trees Guest House, best spot in Seattle. Bob and Susan are always gracious and accommodating and tend to every need you might have, though they have taken care of everything. The house is warm and welcoming with 3 bedrooms, 2 1/2 baths, sunken living room, and a patio beautifully landscapes with a hot tub. The kitchen is stocked with fresh homemade bread and homemade accompaniments, not to mention coffee any way you like it. If you venture away, the metro bus is a block away to downtown to explore Seattle. Lincoln Park and Alki Beach are accessible as well. You will have no regrets staying at the Old Apple Trees Guest House. I can't wait to return. Thanks Susan and Bob for another memorable stay.
Karen - December 2018
Susan and Bob’s place was exactly as described. Everything was clean and the house was stocked with every item one would ever need on vacation. Susan and Bob thought of everything one would need to start a vacation off on the right foot; coffee, butter, milk, oatmeal, bacon, eggs and many other staples were in the fridge and cupboards. When we entered the house, we were greeted with a delicious bottle of wine, homemade bread, cookies and jam, and a pear galette, that was amazing!
The house was cozy and warm, which is not always the case in Seattle in winter. We thoroughly enjoyed gathering in front of the fireplace in the living room and regret that we did not have time to enjoy the hot tub in the beautiful back yard. Susan and Bob were immediately responsive to all of our questions/requests. Susan even ran some cocoa powder over to the house, when I realized at the last minute, that I was missing the key ingredient for our Xmas dessert! That kind of hospitality is amazing and completely unexpected. We will definitely be coming back to stay!
Sarah - November 2018
The best sleep I have had in months on super comfortable mattress, GREAT coffee, breakfast of high quality bacon and eggs, my host made delicious fresh-made bread and jam (!!!!), 5G internet wifi, novels to read and cookbooks to explore, the coziest fireplace -- heaven! the most comfortable high thread count linens, a perfectly luxurious hot tub under the stars with big fluffy towels to go with it, a thoughtfully outfitted kitchen with appliances to cook whatever you are in the mood for, tons of novels, great shampoo and conditioner, makeup remover, soap, great water pressure, a private retreat just minutes outside of downtown Seattle's bustle -- these are just some of the things you'll find at this AirBnB. The hosts are right next door should you need anything at all, and they were super kind and have TONS of ideas on what you might like to explore in Seattle and for road trips. I'll be back!
