West Seattle is a sweet little neighborhood about 15 minutes from downtown and 20 minutes from the airport. We're situated at the top of the hill with great sun exposure.
Our vacation rental is a fully-furnished, 1700 square foot, two-story home on a standard city lot with 3 bedrooms, 2.5 baths, hot tub, fully-equipped kitchen, large backyard deck under a 100 year-old apple tree and a small covered front porch. There is ample on-street parking on the safe, pedestrian-friendly "greenway" out front.
The back yard has established plantings of fruit trees, hydrangea, camellia, iris and roses. In the summer you are welcome to harvest raspberries from the back garden. The house was built in 1990. All interior walls are freshly-painted. Most of the flooring is hard surface (wood and tile). The sunken living room has new carpeting and a gas fireplace. All rooms are extremely well-lit; most lights are dimmable. The house has security doors, security cameras, and a safe for valuables.
There are three queen-size beds with hypoallergenic mattresses and pillows and high-quality InnStyle bedding. Each full bath has a tub and shower, and an ample supply of lush towels. Each bedroom has extra pillows and blankets, a clock radio, room fan, two luggage racks, wooden hangars and an easy chair. A powerful window air conditioner cools the upstairs bedrooms when Seattle has its summer warmth. If we have the rare power outage there's a backup generator.
The master bedroom (with ensuite bath and walk-in closet) faces east, with a beautiful view of the Cascade Mountains. It is equipped with a ceiling fan. The two back bedrooms face west and share a full bath. Across from the shared bath is the washer and dryer, with ironing board and iron. All windows open and have screens and venetian blinds. Bathrobes and pool towels are provided. Each bath has a hair dryer and a selection of commonly-needed sundries.
Internet access is via secure WiFi over fiber optic cable. The den has an HP printer/copier, a desk with basic office supplies, a sofa and easy chairs with hassock. The dining area is off the kitchen and seats six. There are two barstools in the kitchen. There are three flat-screen TVs in the home: one in the living room (with Blu-Ray, surround sound and Amazon FirestickTV), one in the master bedroom and one in the kitchen.
We receive approximately 35 over-the-air channels, but there is no cable. Netflix, Amazon Prime, Sling and other subscription services are available, along with a modest selection of DVDs. There is an eclectic selection of paperbacks plus playing cards, jigsaw puzzles and board games. The house can accommodate up to six adults.
In addition to welcoming visitors to the Guest House, Susan and Bob own and operate McCrea Cellars. Our first vintage was in 1988, and we were the first winery in Washington State to focus exclusively on Rhône varietal wines. Visit us on our website at www.mccreacellars.com.
We both have backgrounds in high tech, primarily with Hewlett-Packard. After leaving HP, Bob ran his own global product development consulting business, and Susan focused her efforts on winery sales, marketing and business operations. Bob later joined the winery full-time as Operations Manager.
Susan's passions include gardening and gourmet cooking -- she is a member of Les Dames d'Escoffier. Bob's passions are any variety of DIY projects, frequently in support of Susan's interests. Susan is classically trained in piano, and Bob makes noise with his drums. Like our guests, we love travel, good food, good wine, new experiences and new friends.
